Happy Spring (Cleaning)!
Spring has officially arrived (even if the weather hasn’t where you live), and perhaps you’re thinking you’ll get some of that spring cleaning out of the way this weekend! Today marks week 3 of this series, and we’re talking closets! Check back every Friday for the newest post, and use the weekend to conquer that spring cleaning list!
This week we will concentrate on cleaning and organizing closets, specifically the bedroom closet.
Spring cleaning the closet
- Remove everything
- Go through contents
- Donate old clothes, winter coats, working items, ect
- Throw away broken items
- Wash or dry clean winter coats
- Dust shelving
- Replace everything back neatly
- Vacuum/Sweep/Mop floors
If you really want to motivate yourself to get rid of some clothes, take EVERYTHING out of your closet! This makes you look at every item carefully, and decide if it really needs to go back! Plus, you’re more likely to want to put less back after taking everything out.
Make a keep, donate, and toss pile. Also, if it has warmed up, this is a good time to wash those winter coats.
I do not have shelves in my bedroom closet, but I did dust the dresser in my closet.
While I try my best to keep my clothes color coded, it does get messed up occasionally. I took the time while putting back my clothes to separate my clothes by type, and then color.
Before I put the few items I keep on my closet floor back, I vacuumed the carpet. Then, I sprayed some Febreeze to freshen up the closet!
Don’t try to do all your spring cleaning in just one day! I’m taking one day every weekend and picking a room to conquer, it is best to take small steps so you don’t feel overwhelmed!
Good luck spring cleaning your bedroom! Share your photos with me on Instagram @girlorganized or post them to the Girl, Organized Facebook page! I look forward to seeing your after pictures!
